A Black & White Game for 2-6 players
Ages 4 and up

In Snakebite, everyone's on a snake hunt.  You toss the wooden sticks looking for snakes.  If you see some, you accumulate some points.  If you toss too many times, though, and you get a Snakebite, you lose all those points for the turn.  So keep looking, but don't stay out too long!

Snakebite is a simple children's game comparable to push-your-luck games like Pig or Can't Stop.  The difference with this game, though, is everyone loves to yell, "SNAKEBITE!" when two snakes and the man show up!

This is the first B&W Game we've created that's made from wooden bits, but don't worry, it's still sold for less than $5!

You can buy Snakebite for $2.75 from Fair Play Games.

The Story Behind Snakebite
Our kids love to play games.  When our daughter's teacher asked her students to bring in homemade gifts for all students in the class, we all agreed a game would be the most fun.  My wife found a game in a magazine called The Stick Game.  It's based on a Native American game and you can read about it at this site.

When I read the rules to The Stick Game, I was intrigued by how they tossed the sticks the way we roll dice, but the game was too simple for my tastes.  When it comes to children's games, I love press-your-luck mechanics, so I played around with some ideas to use the sticks for that sort of game.  After a few tests, our kids really enjoyed playing the version I called "Snakebite", so, as a family, we designed the sticks and rules in a way that we could make twenty copies.  My daughter drew the pictures for that first set of games.  Every child in my daughter's class received Snakebite as a gift that year.

The kids liked the game so much that we kept playing the game throughout the next year.  So, when I found a friend from Blue Panther Games could make the wooden pieces for me, I decided to produce several copies as one of the most inexpensive B&W Games ever.  The artwork is based on the primitive look my daughter gave that first set of games.  And if you enjoy playing games from different cultures, remember that you can play The Stick Game with the components of Snakebite.

The B&W Games Blanket Project
All money we make from Snakebite goes to help people in need.  Currently I.D.E.S. is the organization we support.  They are working all over the world helping people who have suffered from natural disasters.  Our money is sent to help efforts in Louisiana and Mississippi as people there recover from hurricane Katrina.
