Tamsk
From the Publisher...
Excitement mounts as the sand runs in the players' sand clock pieces. When the sand runs out, the piece is lost, but if you turn it before it runs out, you add time to it. Tamsk is the second game in the Gipf project from Kris Burm. It is easy to learn, but a challenge to master.

The Pluto of the GIPF series, Tamsk is a fast paced tactics game of out maneuvering your opponent without letting your sand timers run out. Keeping an eye on your timers while planning ahead is a skill I still have to master, but it's a very enjoyable learning process. |

I guess the arbitrators of GIPF have cast out their unquestionably strangest abstract, TAMSK, in favor of the newer TZAAR game. Part of the logic in here is that GIPF series games are supposed to be mixable in some way (winner of previous game brings a piece from game #1 to game #2, borrowing rules from game #1 and allowing that piece to move in otherwise illegal ways). The second part is a mechanical issues with hourglasses (many sets were plagued by moisture clumping the hourglass sand), and the third part is obvious - "What were we thinking??" I love this game, though. |
