| Amongst strategy games, Othello is an old favorite - it's amazing how deep a game can become with so few rules! Othello has been popular for well over a century and can take ten minutes or hours to complete any game. |
| A classic abstract. The concept is simple but the fact that a move affects tokens already on the board makes it very difficult to predict and plan the best moves. |
| Othello is a great classic abstract game. I have never really grasped it to the extent that I can play strategically, but I am usually able to see which moves are tactically better. What I find fascinating about Othello is the way your placements affect a lot of pieces on the board. This makes it very difficult to completely predict the effect of your moves, which introduces an element of variability that I sorely miss in other, more dry, abstracts. Rules are simple and gameplay deep - a must for any fan of abstract games. |
