Excellent quality for the price. However, because the Master Set only supports up to four people, I would recommend getting two sets. Two sets will give you an ample amount of terrain, as well as plenty of figures. I have played once so far with five other people. The game lasted a little over two hours (most of it was learning the Master Rulese and special powers of each army (don't even bother with the basic rules unless you plan to play with eight year olds)). There were a few rules that were vague, but it's nothing that couldn't be found on a HeroScape fan site or on the Usenet or BGG. The hexes are a little over the 1.5 inches that I have on my felt battlemap, so I was a little dissapointed in that, but with two sets, there was plenty of area for five 400 point armies. A definite recommend and I anxiously await the expansion armies to come around Christmas. |

Great game. It will take a while for you to set up, but after you play it a time or two you learn quickly to make up your own scenarios. This is a great start, but adding some expansions earlier really helps with how the game plays. |

I bought this game initially on clearance for $19.99 at Walmart while still in its prime. The game is awesome but does require a considerable amount of time to set up and select forces. The game is a miniature wargame but is quicker to play than most wargames due to the use of character cards being preprinted. There are numerous strategies to approach the game depending on the force one selects. My favorite seems to be the ultimate Q9 mixed with the Agents. Occasionally, approaching the game with a character who can steal enemy characters by converting them can get very lucky (Stealing a major 300 point beast can be devestating for an opponent). In summary, this is not a game for quick gaming with a crowd not used to gaming but great for gamers who want indepth gaming with a great potential for adding your own campaign storyline. |

A must-have for 7-15 year old boys - and it plays great for adults too. You get a lot for your money in the master set. |
This game has a high "toy" factor and can certainly be used by children for simply playing with it - but it also has a very simple but challenging ruleset that satisfies those who play it competitively. It provides great variety without complex rules. |

The Heroscape game system is one with a ton of tactical depth but which even novice gamers can pick up and easily play. I highly recommend this game for both experienced gamers and as a medium to introduce tactical gaming to those more familiar with more traditional family boardgames. |
