Pompeji, die Stadt am Fuße des Vesuv, befindet sich auf dem Höhepunkt ihrer Entfaltung. Chr. ihr Tagwerk beginnen, ahnen sie nichts von der bevorstehenden Katastrophe. In dem Spiel bringen die Spieler ihre Bürger in die Stadt. Als der Vesuv ausbricht, versucht jeder möglichst viele seiner Bürger aus Pompeji herauszubringen. Sieger ist, wer zum Schluss die meisten eigenen Bürger gerettet hat.
