Zertz
From the Publisher...
Strange! Both players play with the same marbles on a board that gets smaller and smaller... Players use 37 rings to assemble a hexagonal board. The game is played with six white, eight gray and ten black marbles; all of those belong to both players. On his turn, a plyer must put one mable (of any color) on the board and remove one ring.
To captuer a marlbe, a plyer must either jump over it or separate it from the board. The goal is to captuer four white, five gray or six black marbles - or three marbles of each color. Zertz is part of Project GIPF, a series of 6 strategy games for 2 players, as well as three sets of extra pieces called "potentials." The potentials introduce a system that makes it possible to ling games to GIPF.

so i am a huge fan of Dvonn, and was given a chance to play Zertz tonite. Very cool game. combines a chess and checkers aspect into one game. you use discs to create a board and use community marbles to fill the board. sounds easy enough right. sure, until the board starts disappearing. you have to jump marbles like you would do in checkers and collect 3 of each different colored marble to win the game. really makes you think. love it! |

I like to give a little specific advice with my reviews, but when it comes to ZERTZ I'm a beginner - I wouldn't even know where to begin! I do really enjoy the play of this game, though I don't often win. |
