Ingenious (red box)
From the Publisher...
Ingenious is the new abstract placement game from internationally-renowned game designer Reiner Knizia. Players place colored tiles on the hexagonal board, scoring points, blocking opponents’ tile placement, and trying to protect themselves from being blocked by their opponents.
Marvelously elegant and compulsively replayable, Ingenious is an excellent introduction to German-style abstract board games. It’s ingeniously simple, and simply ingenious!
Ingenious is suitable for up to four players, as well as for solo play.

The new packaging is an improvement to make this tile-laying pattern game look more appealing. It is hard challenge since abstract games are off-putting to many, but it's worth getting past that. This an enjoyable game that kids can play well with adults. And, being a Reiner Knizia game, the scoring is about balance, not just "owning" one of the color ranges. In other words, the winner is the person who has the highest score among the weakest colors they've collected. And, I think Ingenious is better than Qwirkle. |

Y'know, I don't usually like abstracts but I like this little game. It really is just Euro dominoes with a tweaked funky scoring system the mad Doktor seems so crazy about, but that tweaked system actually makes the game more interesting with more ways to score, and more to worry about than just maxing one score. |

Just a great game. Simple concept, excellent balance on scoring. Competition without a huge amount of conflict. We loved the two-player version, but bring out this one more frequently because it's so easy to enjoy with a group. |

Started with a free app for this game, then rec'd the beautiful Fantasy Flight red box version for my bday. Great puzzle game, highly replayable, tons of family fun. |
