Battleball is a surprisingly good offering from Milton Bradley in which you play as a team in a futuristic football league, trying to annihilate your opponent. The entire game is dice based, but is done very cleverly. Each type of player moves via a different type of die. Running backs roll d20, linemen roll d6, etc. On each turn you may move a player by rolling a die and moving the appropriate player up to the number of spaces that results from the die roll. Thus, running backs are very fast (rolling a d20), and linemen are slow (rolling a d6). However, when your player meets up with his opponent's player, a tackle is attempted. Both players roll the appropriate die, and the lowest roll wins the tackle. This means that running backs are very weak, while the linemen are very strong. The first person to score two touchdowns wins the game. An exciting and very fun dicefest that I highly recommend! |

Believe it or not, there are some people out there who enjoy a good dice-based game and this game's a good example of why! Make a football board game, throw in some fun components, include both basic "hurry and play" instructions along with the more complex passing rules, and you have a game that is great for almost anyone. Yeah, it's a dice game but man, is it fun to finally take down that big lineman or what?! |

This is a very fun game.
After playing it several times, I believe it's fair to say that Battleball is a casual game that appeals to hard core gamers.
Seriously, buy it. You won't regret it.

This game has a lot to offer. My nine year old son can play it just for the fun of rolling the dice, destroying the enemy, and moving the cool figures up and down the field. I can play it at as an interesting exercise in strategy that is influenced by luck. The rules ensure that the game isn't "dead"; you can "come from behind" to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, and even the weakest player on the field can surprise everyone and take out the most massive "heavy lineman" with a lucky roll. Excellent game, well done Hasbro! |

The components are excellent and the dice rolling mechanic is unique and balanced. However the game seemed slow to me and didn't represent the fast pace of american football. It's still a good game, but one of careful analysis and playing the odds rather than fast action. |
