Yinsh
From the Publisher...
A tricky proposition: the closer you are to victory, the weaker you are on the board! Each player begins by placing five rings of his own color on the board. Both players have at their disposal 51 markers that are white on one side and black on the other. On his turn, a player must place a marker in one of his rings and then move the ring... ...flipping every marker the ring moves over. Each time a player forms a row of five markers of his own color, he must remove one of his rings. The goal is to remove three of your own rings from the board. Yinsh is part of Project GIPF, a series of 6 strategy games for 2 players, as well as three sets of extra pieces called "potentials." The potentials introduce a system that meks it possible to ling games to GIPF.

My favorite game of the GIPF series, Yinsh has an Othello feel from the pieces that change colors between black and white when they are jumped over. Also interesting is how the game gets harder as you approach victory. |

This GIPF series game is one of my personal favorites... as always, it rings vaguely of other abstract games one's played - but reliance on external sources of strategy is almost always fatal. Underneath, this is really a unique game. |

Dynamic and exhiliarating in its pace and presence...a brain-burner that is fun beacuse the movement of the pieces is so fascinating to watch...a game of great depth and interest....the most accessible of the GIPF series, but by no means the lightest... Thumbs up by Me |
