Mississippi Queen
From the Publisher...
The players are captains of Mississippi paddle-wheelers. They race their boats down the river. They can go as fast as they want, but must avoid the river's islands and make two passenger stops on the way. Sudden speed and direction changes cost coal and when you run out, you crash. The first boat to the finish line with two passengers is the winner and gains the title Mississippi Queen!

Great use of modular board that truly makes each game unique. The fact that the board is built as you go and only when the lead racer needs it is pure genius. Frequently, it's better to be in 2nd or 3rd place and make your move once you see in which direction the river turns. Excellent gateway game that never fails to please. |
This is a nice little race game. The most interesting part is that your control of the speed and direction of the boats is limited, which brings in a resource management aspect too. |
This is a nice ressource management race game. It has a well integrated theme and the miniature steam boats attract bystanders to have a closer look. It can be be quite challenging to manage the scarce coal while keeping an eye on both where to pick up passengers and how fast the competitors are moving.
It is a moderately complex game the requires careful planning and execution of the moves - and when you win, you really feel that you have earned your victory. |
