Clash of the Gladiators
From the Publisher...
In this game, the players first recruit groups of gladiators from a pool of hopefuls with five different abilities.
They are fighters, shield bearers, spear throwers, net casters, and trident carriers. Players assemble
2-4 groups of 4 gladiators. When the groups are ready, the players move them around the arena to challenge the animals
or other players' groups. When only one player has gladiators left, the players score for the gladiators
they retained and the animals and gladiators vanquished during the game.

Clash of the Gladiators is a pure dicefest by the genius, Reiner Knizia, where teams of gladiators fight to stay alive in fierce battle! Each player assembles his team of gladitors by filling each of his carts with four gladiators each. A player may select from spearmen, swordsmen, shield bearers, trident carriers, and net casters, each of which give a different special ability to that particular cart. Once teams are assembled, a player will choose which of his carts of men he would like to attack with and whom he would like to attack. Players then roll dice to see who is killed off. Players score points for every gladiator they kill. In addition, once all of a player's gladiators are killed, he may play as animals such as bears and lions to score points more for himself. This way, no one is ever out of the game! |
The greatest thing about Clash of the Gladiators is definately designing your team. You get to pick which type of gladiators you want to use, and it is great fun trying to find the best combination of abilities. |

I can't believe that this is a Knizia game. While his games are usually themeless, tight, somewhat plodding experiences, this game is a light, fun, dice-fest! Don't buy this game expecting a deep strategic game, where you can control your destiny. Buy this game because it's a riot, it's chaotic, and it's theme oozes throughout! |
