Colosseum
From the Publisher...
In Colosseum you are a Roman impresario - producing great spectacles in your arena in the hope of attracting the most spectators to your events. You'll earn wealth and glory for each event you run, using it to build ever more ambitious events. Attract the most spectators to one of your events and you'll be granted the title of Grand Impresario, with tales of your extraordinary spectacles acclaimed throughout the empire. However, to produce larger events that will attract more spectators, you will need to build up your arena's infrastructure.

I'm so glad I decided to buy this game for the family a year or two ago. We own most of the Days of Wonder games and all of them have been excellent.
Colosseum has many great elements. You have to plan your strategy as you only play a few turns. Which order you do things effects your overall outcome. There are several strategies involved. The bartering for cards amongst players is great. The variety in needed cards is a nice balance to make the game challenging (not to easy, not too frustrating). |

The first time you play, it takes FOREVER to set up! Read the instructions very well! Great game because it doesn't require many players to compete directly against each other. Your goal is to get the biggest crowd at your show. Acquire actors & props to put on shows for points and gold. Expand your arena, trade with other players and play just five rounds to determine the winner. Super fun! |

A very enjoyable, thematic, and varied experience. You play as the owner of a colosseum and you do your best to end up with the largest, most impressive, spectator-attracting event of the year!
Very good blend of game mechanics in this one! |

It does take a little patience to get Colosseum down at first, but it is very novel and enjoyable theme for a bidding game. I like how your score is the best event you've hosted rather than an accumulative score. Production values -- of course for being a Days of Wonder game -- are splendid. |
