| It's almost absurd to review chess, one of the most successful and most studied games to grace the western world. Instead, I'd rather encourage anyone who has never attempted to learn chess to do so. This game requires some study to attenuate to, in part due to the amount of time other people spent doing the same. Many abstract strategy games have equal depth as this classic, but very few are as widely known and practiced. The ultimate in playtested games, chess would never be with us today were it not a rich and satisfying entertainment. |

| One of the games that got me into "gaming" in the first place, what can be said about chess that hasn't already been said? The ultimate in strategy, no-luck, game play, chess can keep you learning and growing in strategy for years. I collect chess sets and have found that they are quite the conversation starter; I would never have guessed that so many people have played at one time in their life or another. Great game; one of the ultimates. |
| Even with all these new and great games around, Chess will always have a special place in my heart. It is a game that rewards planning ahead and attention to details, and I believe it provides a great starting point for almost any other game. |
