Life isn't fair...Why should a game be?
Players take their places in the pecking order, from Greater Peon to Greater Dalmuti, and try to ditch the cards in their hands. From this simple concept comes an ingenious game by Richard Garfield. What (or Who) is The Great Dalmuti?
Easy to learn and quick to play, The Great Dalmuti is a social card game based on the premise that life isn't fair.
The colorfully illustrated card deck consists of 80 cards: 12 twelves, 11 elevens, 10 tens, and so on down to one Great Dalmuti card, as well as two Jesters. The faster you get rid of the cards in your hand, the higher your social class will be in the following hand, and having a higher social standing has definite advantages in the game.
Watch out--the last player to run out of cards has to be the Greater Peon, the lowest rank of all, who has to shuffle, deal, and collect the cards, as well as tend to the needs of the Greater Dalmuti!
The Great Dalmuti is perfect for family or group entertainment and can be played by anyone over eight years old. The Great Dalmuti was designed by Richard Garfield, creator of the hit fantasy card game Magic: The Gathering.

| There have been a lot of games with similar game-play to The Great Dalmuti; from Dragonmaster to the popular drinking game P & A. This one is designed by Richard Garfield (of Magic fame) and is probably the best one of all. The artwork is very nice, and the rules are somewhat easier to follow than other incarnations.

| Easy to learn trick taking card game. Very easy to teach and a good break from all the heavier games. I made 6 hats for the GP, LP, 1stTP, 2ndTP, GD, and LD and they draw lots of laughs and giggles every time I pull them out.
No score keeping and you can stop anytime. |

| Such a fun card game! You can change your stars- at least in this card game! : ) Start as scum but end up as royalty!! Fun fun fun! Play cards strategically. The goal is to play all your cards first to win the highly coveted title of "Great Dalmuti". Players fill in the lesser ranks as they finish and change to seats to reflect their class. Play is easy. Cards are numbered 12-1 with as many cards in the series as the number on the card. The player who plays the lowest card of the round resumes play for the next round. Intensify the level of difficulty by grouping like numbered cards together- play only continues if other players can play the same number of cards in a lesser number (i.e. five 12's are played, then five eights are played but no one else has five of a certain number. The player who played the five eights starts a new round). |

| Easy game to play. It's the only game that I know of that purposefully sends the message that LIFE IS NOT FAIR! Very unique! |

| If you've ever played the drinking game (take a look at the rules and you may make the connection!), this card game shares much in common. It also improves upon the US playing card game - and looks nice - so I recommend picking up a copy. |
