Carcassonne: Traders & Builders Expansion
From the Publisher...
In this 2nd expansion to Carcassonne, 24 new landscape tiles not only offer new terrain such as bridges and bent cities, some tiles also contain goods symbols. Players use these to acquire wine, cloth and grain. The best traders can get additional profits at the end of the game.
Builder tokens are also new to the game -- when placed in a city, a second tile may be played when expanding the city or roads leading from it.
Pig markers are also new -- these can be placed with a farmer to enrich the value of a farm.
Also included is a cloth bag for the tiles, making it easier to shuffle and draw them during the game, as well as making the game more portable. The expansion has components for 6 players and is completely compatible with the first expansion. Thus, players may play with the original Carcassonne, with Carcassonne and the 1st expansion, with Carcassonne and the 2nd expansion, or with Carcassonne and both expansions!

This is the only Carcassonne expanxion I always use. The tiles it adds are mostly useful in specific situations (for example, a tile with four roads, that all end in the middle) and it's a great thrill to draw them when they're needed.
The new game-play components: the builder, pig, and the trade tiles--are interesting and inobtrustive. I sometimes omit the pig or trading rules, especially with new players, but I always use the builder because I love the idea.
Highly recommended. |

Another must have expansion (along with Inns and Cathedrals)!!! The other expansions are nice, but these two really add great tiles to the game and nice additional strategy. The game is just not complete without these two expansions. |

I consider this an absolute must-have expansion for Carcassonne. The builder not only adds a fun power-up to your feature, but it adds the decision of whether to put it on or not. It's also fun to trap it so that it can't be returned to the player. :) |

This is the second expansion universally considered a must have by Carc players (the other being Inns and Cathedrals). This is a fun large expansion that adds much to a game. The builder allows you to take an extra turn if you add to the city or road that it is on. The pig allows you to get 4 points per city on a field rather than 3. The trade tiles allow for new end game scoring that can drastically change game play. I recommend this for all Carc players. |

What I like about this expansion is the cloth bag that you get to help randomize tiles, the traders option adds just a bit more incentive to help complete cities, the builders expansions adds more opportunity to finish roads, and I think there was a pig to help get more points out of a farm- all in all, a decent expansion with a decent # of added tiles for the price, plus some extra little bits. Would probably always play with it now that I have it. |

My favorite carcassonne expansion! The tactics and strategy really make the game pop. |
