Carcassonne: The Tower Expansion   (View Game)
   tofuji

A good expansion that adds more direct conflict into the game as you can capture and ransom each other's meeples. If you wanted more conflict in Carcassonne, this expansion is for you.

Carcassonne: The Princess & the Dragon   (View Game)
   tofuji
A good expansion that adds an element of semi-controlled chaos with the dragon rampaging around the board, knocking meeples off their tiles. The Princess adds a way to get more points (but the best part is the dragon).

Carcassonne: Inns & Cathedrals Expansion   (View Game)
   tofuji
A must-have expansion that increases the earning potential of the features and also includes the big meeple! It's useful for taking over control from other players. :)

Carcassonne: Traders & Builders Expansion   (View Game)
   tofuji
I consider this an absolute must-have expansion for Carcassonne. The builder not only adds a fun power-up to your feature, but it adds the decision of whether to put it on or not. It's also fun to trap it so that it can't be returned to the player. :)

Carcassonne   (View Game)
   tofuji
A great gateway game, and my own introduction into the world of gaming. The game play is simple enough for most to pick up, which the scoring keeps everyone in the game until the end. The best use of the farmers is probably the hardest part to pick up, but that comes with time.

Hop To It!   (View Game)
   tofuji
This game is great for those with excellent short term memory, as you only need to remember 2 or 3 things at a time, though in rapid succession. It scales well between ages by allowing you to increase the difficulty by increasing the amount that's needed to remember.

Heroscape - Large Expansion Set - Volcarren Wasteland   (View Game)
   tofuji
This Heroscape expansion adds lava terrain, which is best for cutting off an area without blocking the line of sight, since most can't enter without taking damage.

Heroscape - Large Expansion Set - Road to the Forgotten Forest   (View Game)
   tofuji
This Heroscape expansion adds roads, which is especially nice for building bridges where you can place your figure and have him declare, "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"

Heroscape - Castle Expansion Set   (View Game)
   tofuji
A great expansion to the Heroscape world, but you probably need a few to build up the really nice castles. I like how it looks and the added dimension from the capture/defend the fortress aspect.

PDQ: The Pretty Darn Quick Word Game   (View Game)
   tofuji
A word game where you have to be pretty darn quick and that plays pretty darn quick. I like it as a fast filler with other wordies.

Duckling Dancin' (Chicken Cha Cha Cha expansion)   (View Game)
   tofuji
How can you not love an expansion that adds bird poop? :)

Scattergories   (View Game)
   tofuji
A classic party game that's always good to have around. It's well suited for different types of people because it has so many categories so a person might be weak in some categories and strong in others.

Robo Rally (RoboRally)   (View Game)
   tofuji
A game of utter chaos. You get to program robots and watch them crash into each other. And there are lasers! I might not have the skills to build something for Robot Wars, but I can still play this. :)

No Thanks! (English version of Geschenkt and No Merci)   (View Game)
   tofuji
A fun and quick bidding game where people are bidding on not having to take a card. It's particularly fun to pass the bids on a card around that won't affect you, just to gather everyone else's tokens, and if it's high enough or you're brave enough, you can pass it around again. :)

Rat-a-Tat-Cat   (View Game)
   tofuji
The best part of this memory game is when you mis-remember what you have and where you have it, causing you to throw out a good card for someone else to take, or ending it when your cards turn out to be not so great.

Moby Pick   (View Game)
   tofuji
A good memory game that's easy for kids to pick up. Plus it's fun just to say, "Molly, Polly, Moby Pick!"

Summoner Wars: Guild Dwarves vs Cave Goblins   (View Game)
   tofuji
A fun card-based war game, which has you pitting different races against each other, with each race specialized in some way. They're well balanced in this way. The Goblins are great for coming out in large numbers and overwhelming the opponent, which the Dwarves are hard to kill and can break down walls, making it harder to gather reinforcements.

Summoner Wars: Phoenix Elves vs Tundra Orcs   (View Game)
   tofuji
A fun card-based war game, which has you pitting different races against each other, with each race specialized in some way. They're well balanced in this way. The Elves are very good for long ranged attacks, while the Orcs are powerful, especially with Rage.

BattleLore   (View Game)
   tofuji
BattleLore is a great war game that uses the Commands & Colors system. On top of that, it adds a fantasy element with Lore to allow for magic and monsters. The base game is 2-player, but that can be increased with the Epic expansion.

Uptown   (View Game)
   tofuji
An interesting abstract strategy area control with placement restrictions similar to sudoku. While I loathe sudoku, the players' interactions make this very fun and challenging.

Zombie Fluxx Deck   (View Game)
   tofuji
If you enjoy the randomness of Fluxx (which I do) and the awesomeness of zombies (which I also do), you can't go wrong here. :) This edition of Fluxx added Creepers to the game.

10 Days in the USA   (View Game)
   tofuji
An easy game to learn and to play. It also is a good way to help kids familiarize themselves with the geography of USA. The original of the 10 Days series. It scales very well and turns are very quick, so there is not much down time.

10 Days in Africa   (View Game)
   tofuji
An easy game to learn and to play. It also is a good way to help kids familiarize themselves with the geography of Africa. This game added multiple tiles for a single location to the 10 Days series.

10 Days in Asia (Ten Days In Asia)   (View Game)
   tofuji
An easy game to learn and to play. It also is a good way to help kids familiarize themselves with the geography of Asia. This game added trains to the 10 Days series.

10 Days In Europe   (View Game)
   tofuji
An easy game to learn and to play. It also is a good way to help kids familiarize themselves with the geography of Europe. This game added ships to the 10 Days series.

Take It Easy!   (View Game)
   tofuji
I love how everyone is working with the same pieces of a puzzle, which leads to different results. There's also a nice amount of push-your-luck ("Come on six!").

Blokus - Travel Edition   (View Game)
   tofuji
Blokus for two players. It's easy to teach and play and is the only game I've gotten my non-gamer wife to play more than twice. (I think we've played this four times!)

Upwords   (View Game)
   tofuji
I love how you can change other people's words by building on top of them. This is something I've always wanted to do while playing regular scrabble.

Double or Nothing   (View Game)
   tofuji
A very simple push-your-luck game that nicely builds tension as you flip each card. I'm more of a All-or-Nothing player, so I tend to win by a lot or lose by a lot, but I have fun either way.

Pandemic - 2013 Edition   (View Game)
   tofuji
I love the tension that builds when you pulls cards, hoping that it's not another outbreak or chain of outbreaks coming up.

Ricochet Robots (2008 re-print of original version) : reddish box   (View Game)
   tofuji
While some considered this a multi-player solitaire puzzle, it is precisely the other players that cause you to rush your answer to sometimes suboptimal results, and that's part of the fun.

Taluva   (View Game)
   tofuji
Taluva is a great tile-laying game, but it's also very beautiful. I love how it builds up into a 3d island and how it looks when a game is finished.

Thunderstone   (View Game)
   tofuji
I love the dungeon crawl theme of this deck building game, and all the mechanics work so well to enhance the theme. An example is the dungeon, which requires light to go down. The more light you have, the further down you can go down to battle more monsters.

Ca$h n Gun$ Yakuza (Cash n Guns Yakuza)   (View Game)
   tofuji
This expansion not only adds more players, but Japanese weapons. Amusingly, the tanto swings around until it finally hits someone, even if it is the original tanto wielding player. It's also fun to be able to throw shurikens (ninja stars) at your opponent's character.

Ca$h'n Gun$ (Cash 'n Guns)   (View Game)
   tofuji
A great party game where you can not escape staring down the barrel of a gun at some point. The question is if you've got the guts to see if they're bluffing. It also comes with fun variants where you can have special powers or where there's an informant amongst the criminals.

Tsuro   (View Game)
   tofuji
Tsuro is a game of looking ahead, but not too much, since the board is likely to have changed by the time it is your turn again. I like planning my escape route, and even more than that, I like causing two opponents to collide into each other. :)

Hive: Mosquito Expansion   (View Game)
   tofuji
The mosquito piece adds so many possibilities since it can mimic the movements whatever piece it touches.

Pandemic On The Brink Expansion - 2013 Edition   (View Game)
   tofuji
I can play against everyone else as a bioterrorist! 'Nuff said.

Knightmare Chess Set 2   (View Game)
   tofuji
More of the same of Knightmare Chess. It's nice to have to add variety as you and your opponent can have a different set and play it out.

Knightmare Chess 2nd Edition   (View Game)
   tofuji
A set of cards that can modify a chess game in a number of unexpected ways. This is a great equalizer for chess players of differing levels, but also takes much longer to play since it adds the decision of which, if any, card to play to mess up your opponents machinations.

Tamsk   (View Game)
   tofuji
The Pluto of the GIPF series, Tamsk is a fast paced tactics game of out maneuvering your opponent without letting your sand timers run out. Keeping an eye on your timers while planning ahead is a skill I still have to master, but it's a very enjoyable learning process.

Qwirkle Cubes   (View Game)
   tofuji
It's like Qwirkle, but instead of tiles, there are colored dice/cubes with all the shapes. While it adds the possibility of more of a certain color/shape combination, I still find I like the original better.

Qwirkle   (View Game)
   tofuji
Qwirkle is Scrabble for people who don't like word games. You form chains of tiles based on color or shape and play them like Scrabble. It's easily taught and highly enjoyable.

Yinsh   (View Game)
   tofuji
My favorite game of the GIPF series, Yinsh has an Othello feel from the pieces that change colors between black and white when they are jumped over. Also interesting is how the game gets harder as you approach victory.

Ricochet   (View Game)
   tofuji
A fast reaction game where your eyes bounce from card to card trying to figure out what the final solution is. I love these type of reaction games where everyone is simultaneously trying to be first to come up with the answer.

Ubongo Extreme   (View Game)
   tofuji
A harder version of Ubongo, which uses hexagon-based shapes instead of squares. When playing this game, it feels more like I luck into the solution than solving it, but I still enjoy it a lot. To kick it up another notch, download and print the Craxy expansion on BGG.

Ubongo   (View Game)
   tofuji
A fun puzzle-solving game, which plays mostly solitaire until it comes to scoring, when you race for gems and then base your scores on the collected gems. For the most part, I play without the timer or gems and just enjoy its puzzle-based fun.

Quiddler   (View Game)
   tofuji
Quiddler is my favorite word game. This is a quick card game that can be played by all levels, since bonuses are given for longest word and most words (which would mean short words). It's a great lunch time diversion at work.

Ubongo Duel   (View Game)
   tofuji
A two player version of Ubongo, it has all the puzzle solving fun of the original, plus both players are solving the same puzzle at the same time, so there is no question of one possibly being easier than another.

Hive   (View Game)
   tofuji
An excellent abstract strategy game. The low number of types of pieces makes it very easy to learn, but it still has a lot of depth. My only suggestion is to not allow bee placement as the first two moves, otherwise between players of equal skill level, it will often end in a tie.
