Easily comprehendable, gripping, strategic, taking merely 30min per game. At the moment one of my favorites. |

WOW! Just played this one through for a few days...only three words can sum up my feelings at this point:
DESTINED FOR GREATNESS. |
El Grande - Decennial (10 year) Edition (Expansions Included)

Simply the finest board game I've ever played. Very clever mechanics and an absolute joy with 3 to 5 players. I've never had a bad game in many, many playings. There is no element of chance, but the tables can definately be turned in the final turn, which keeps the game tense and interesting to the end. |

This game is at the top of my list. It's an excellent 2 player game and also scales well to 4 players. My wife likes it which is a plus for me. I also like how close the game scores are at the end, making losing players not think that you creamed them to much. :-) I found this easier to teach than Puerto Rico. You do use the whole 1.5 hrs or more to play, which does not bother me. I highly recommend this game. |

Another quick one, but a really great one. I'm a big fan of both auction mechanics and
blind bidding, so it's an unsurprising winner. It's also simple enough to play with
non-gamers but has a lot of clever tactics and the art is beautiful. |
Dominion: Seaside Expansion

I like the new cards. Generally, this set is less complicated than the Intrigue set because of the duration cards. Lovely components and of course, it is a plus that pirates are included. Yarr! |
Dominion: Prosperity

Probably my favorite of the Dominion expansions so far. I love the extra dimension the Colony and Platinum cards add to the game.
Since I mix all of the Dominion decks together when I play, I record all of my plays under the Dominion base game. |

Imagine you're on a game show where every player is given ten random ingredients and challenged to cook up the best dish. You choose your ingredients and their proportions carefully and season to taste, and if it tastes like barf -- oh well, you only spent 20 minutes on it, so just have another go at it!
Dominion is just like that. I love the feeling of building the perfect little recipe for any situation.
It's easy to learn and easy to play (contrast: Race), but the more you might feel like studying the cards and how they work together, the deeper your experience becomes.
It really is that good! In fact, it kinda ruined my enjoyment of every other game I own for a long year. |

The ultimate party game! What I like so much about this game is how diverse the tasks are. Many party games are singly focused. People who don't feel like they can draw anything feel like they can't play Pictionary. People who don't know trivia hate Trivial Pursuit. People who are shy usually can't stand charades. People who are linguistically challenged often are made to feel dumb by word games like Taboo. This game is good for any group because the artist, the actor, the shy person, the vocab junky, the trivia expert, the sculptor, the music fanatic....all of them will have tasks they can get enjoyment out of and feel like they are a successful at. I highly recommend this game or its junior version for use with withdrawn or low self-esteem kids and adolescents. It's great at bringing them out of their shell and making them feel capable and successful even if they end up losing. |

Cosmic Encounter is the best boardgame ever for me, and my rate is again a 10. I consider this new FFG version not only as a simple reprint, but the perfect mix of the best parts of all the old versions of the game, with nice components. Furthermore I found the new (optional) Technology cards as a great improvement, with a simple but clever mechanic. |
Coloretto (English Version)

It's light, fun, fast, and with just enough tactics to make you feel smart when you screw an opponent and dependent enough on figuring our your opponents as to not give experienced players too much of an edge. One of my all-time favorites. |
Settlers Of Catan Board Game : Cities & Knights

The best expansion for Settlers of Catan. Not something to jump into as a newbie, play Settlers about ten times before trying to tackle this one. Eventually, you will likely request only to play this version of Settlers, with occasional nostalgic games of the regular, before there were commodities. |

This game is spectacular in that it's easy to learn the general gameplay, but very difficult to master. The psychology behind determining who would most likely pick which character each round makes this game extremely enjoyable even after years of play. A spectacular game to introduce non-gamers to German Games. |

Great game! High replay value, and unique scoring. I really don't think the farmers have such a huge advantage like some people say. Very simple to learn. Nice looking tiles. |

This was one of 18 games I purchased once discovering the whole new games market, and so far it's one of my "casual" group's favorites - even after their initial hesitations. The rules take a bit of getting used to, but once playing it's great fun! |
Blokus Trigon

Changing Blokus to a triangular grid doesn't sound like much of a change, but it adds an extra dimension in allowing corner-to-edge play as well as corner-to-corner. This makes it harder to restrict one targetted player, making the whole experience much more subtle. The perfect abstract for four. |

One of my favorite games! Not much a fan of abstract games (although I play them more often lately) I was attracted to Blokus immediately because of the nice pieces. The game is different every time and requires another strategy every time. Demonstrated this game for Hodin at Spellenspektakel and it was well received there as well! |

Wonderful game. Players usually try to keep several cards in hand to surprise the adversary later in the game, but soon start to run out of options. A good balance between luck and strategy. Thumbs up by Me |

Clearly Sid Sackson's finest work and the game that influenced an entire genre (German games). Perhaps the oldest "gamer game" still in print. An enduring classic for good reason. Thumbs up by Me |

Dynamic and exhiliarating in its pace and presence...a brain-burner that is fun beacuse the movement of the pieces is so fascinating to watch...a game of great depth and interest....the most accessible of the GIPF series, but by no means the lightest... Thumbs up by Me |

An Amazingly good, light-to-medium weight area control game. For the most part, it's improved Vinci, which was also a very good game. I particularly like some of the new powers and the addition of the attack die, as well as not having to be contiguous at turn's end. Thumbs up by Me |
Tigris and Euphrates

This is a 2 to 4 player tile laying game, where players build up kingdoms of tiles on the board, and try to position their leaders to their best advantage. The game is won by taking cubes in four colours, but your score is the colour you have the least of. Ingenious mechanics and subtle deep game play. Simply wonderful. Thumbs up by Me |

Okay, there's a learning curve here. For an experienced gamer, though, it's only about one game. After the first game I knew everything I had to know and started to work on trying different strategies. It was around that second play that I really fell in love with it. Gorgeous game that plays really, really well. I can't believe such an involved game can play seven people in 30 minutes, but it can. This is one of the best games of the year, no doubt. *Update* - 13 plays later and it's made my 10 list. Absolutely love it. |

This is by far the best game I have played in a very long time, if by a long time I mean ever. Although I own other great games, this one was so well designed and thought out that it has no luck value involved at all. Like chess you have to think about your opponent's moves and what will help you most while not helping your opponent. A fantastic game that will be played many times. |

Wonderful, wonderful game. Played twice with 3 then 4 players. This game has already shot up to be one of the best that I own. We just finished a game and I'm already yearning to start another one. Can't stop thinking about what I would do next time. Lots of thinking, lots of strategies. All without the paralysis analysis problem. My best buy of the year. |

Love this game. It's a territorial game where you influence different icons on the board. The person with the "majority" of icons will win the game. It starts off and looks friendly but soon becomes a tense, strategic game of who can outwit who. Thumbs up by Me. |
