Arkham Horror Board Game
(View Game)
PWC
A really fun game with a very well done theme/adventure vibe. Lots of quality components-- does take time to set up-- but if there are multiple players- get each one to do something and play will start much faster. Also helpful- playing with somebody that HAS EXPERIENCE playing before-- sped up game along SO MUCH (they knew how the rules worked, didn't have to refer back tot he rule book much, knew what the next actions/steps were and kept everything on track)-- didn't seem like half as long as some say-- we had a pretty good game in under 3 hours with 5 players. |

A really great game to have in any collection- not very hard to explain to new people, very little down time (you a get a bit more at the beginning when people have to figure out what symbols mean etc), lots of meaningful decisions to make as each round of cards passes to you, accomodates larger groups, lots of replayability as there are multiple wonders to play with (plus expansions- Leaders is great! adds a lot of fun cards and options) and it plays quickly. Sets up easily and feels like you have accomplised something by the end. Highly recommended. |

One of the BEST co-op games out there- combines the best elements of Pandemic with an incredible amount of theme & pacing unlike most other games. The thing that sets this game apart is the TENSION-- it is fantastically fast-paced and intense- there is no sitting around waiting for any one player to take the lead, and taking your time to work out a multi-step solution- EVERYBODY has to get involved, think on their feet and get coordinated in order for the mission to be successful. The sound track is a great timer & randomizer for the game- we found it was fun to set the resolution round to the Imperial March... extra ominous atmosphere for when your ship is flying apart into pieces... You will feel a real sense of accomplishment after each successful flight- Good Luck on your first missions! |
Citadels - (Includes The Dark City Expansion)

PWC
A small but versatile game suitable from 2 up to 7 players. The role selection mechanism is similar to San Juan but different in that there is some secrecy/guessing involved and is somewhat like Race for the Galaxy but there is no role duplication. The expansion included is a nice bonus- more roles = more interesting game play plus the extra district cards will surely spice up the game. A simple to set up and learn game playable in about 30 minutes-45 minutes depending on the number players & how long they take to select their roles. Highly recommended. |

Pandemic On The Brink Expansion - 2013 Edition

PWC
Highly recommend getting the expansion along with the base game (it's cheap enough!) The little petri dishes are really fun for keeping your "diseases" in, and the variations (purple mutagenic disease & virulent strain) add a bit more spice and interest after you've played the base game a couple of time. The extra roles are also fun- not sure about the bioterrorist variant yet- but it also looks promising- Plus you get smaller pawns so everybody fits on the board just slightly better- what's not to like? |
Pandemic - 2013 Edition

A very decently priced game for the amount of gameplay you'll get out of it. The pace, tension, coop race against time is unlike most other games out there. Very unique and the theme is well matched to the action. Highly recommended- Just get it and try it out! |
Carcassonne: Traders & Builders Expansion
(View Game)
PWC
What I like about this expansion is the cloth bag that you get to help randomize tiles, the traders option adds just a bit more incentive to help complete cities, the builders expansions adds more opportunity to finish roads, and I think there was a pig to help get more points out of a farm- all in all, a decent expansion with a decent # of added tiles for the price, plus some extra little bits. Would probably always play with it now that I have it. |
Dungeon Petz

PWC
This game box is nice & heavy - filled with well illustrated game boards, plastic imps, wood bits, plastic cubes & a whole bunch of different "petz"-- The game plays best with 4. The gameplay goes fairly quickly after the first couple rounds & as long as you don't have players who are prone to AP, about 2 hrs should be enough for a game- not the lightest or heaviest of strategy games- best for a moderately experienced player minimally who likes a little bit of meat to their games. Highly enjoyable! (even after losing badly due to the overeating, overpooping pet fiasco!) |
Hive Carbon

A highly elegant game, both in the design of game pieces & the instructions/strategy. Very quick to learn and play, highly transportable with it's own carry case. Highly recommend game for 2 players. |
