Players begin by arranging eleven cards into armies of each nation. Cards are dealt randomly, so you may have several nations represented or possibly only a few comprised of many units.

Large fantasy artwork can be seen on each card. Three pictures for each nation depict either infantry (shield icons), cavalry (horse icons) and archers (bow icons).
